Vintage Tolstoy Book What Men Live By Illustrated by Jeff Hill Russian Literature Fiction Allegory Philosophy Folk Tale World Literature

What Men Live By is one of Leo Tolstoy's most popular short pieces of literary fiction, which he wrote in 1865. Illustrated by Jeff Hill, with his modern stylized images, this is a sweet vintage book that you might display on your retro coffee table. It is an allegorical tale that that draws on folk and fantasy genres.

Published by The Peter Pauper Press of Mount Vernon, NY. Hardcover. Some age-based discoloration. Otherwise, pages are bright, clean, and crisp with a very tight binding. Jacket has isolated edge wear. Unstated publication date, though the corresponding Library of Congress date is 1954, but I believe this copy to be from 1965. The gift inscription is dated 1967.
