Vintage Noritake Plate, Art Deco Cake Plate, Japanese Porcelain, Fruit Compote Design with Gold Rim
The garland pattern on this lovely Art Deco Noritake plate is one that I have not come across before now. It shows a lavishly hand painted fruit compote design in blue, red, green, and yellow on a cream background, with 14K gold at the rim, handles, and verge. Bountiful fruit fills the stately compote and swags of fruit and greenery hang elegantly along the edges. As a cake plate, it curves gently upward, which makes it the perfect serving plate, especially for the holidays. The red Morimura, "M", and "Made in Japan" make up the back mark, which dates it to the 1920s.
This lovely plate is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, flea bites, crazing, or loss of color. Some minor wear on the gold handles is present, but nothing more than would be expected of an item that has been used. This beautiful and festive plate measures 9 5/8" in diameter.
Prior to listing, I ensure my vintage porcelain pieces are authentic and not a very good reproduction. For this, I use various sources. For your information, you might wish to view the Noritake CollectorsGuild by clicking on the link.
